The Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club has presented certificates to the three winners of the local stage of the Rotary Young Photographer Competition.
Open to all children and young people who live In the Wharfe Valley, between Burley-in-Wharfedale and Addingham, the winners were presented their certificates by Derek Richards, President of Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club, and will now go forward to the District Final which covers all of Yorkshire and Humberside.

The subject this year was Wonderful Water and Evie Nippard, aged 8, won the Junior Section of the competition with her picture of frozen water on a window pane. Eva Wooler, aged 17, won the Senior Section with her picture of a mountain scene reflected in a lake and Rufus Hoad, aged 12, won the Intermediate Section with his picture of a stormy sea crashing onto the rocks.
Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club says it was delighted to hear that Rufus had won the Intermediate Section of the District Competition and his photograph then went through to the National Finals. Unfortunately, he was not placed nationally but he was presented with a 2nd certificate by Derek Richards for his achievement in reaching the National Final. The judges for the Final stated the standard of photography this year was outstanding.

The Youth Committee of Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club says it looks forward to next year’s Young Photography Competition which will run from October to the end of the Autumn Term. The subject for 2025-6 will be Happiness in Nature.
