This April, staff and friends of The Raikes Residential Home in Silsden are coming together to take on a simple, but powerful challenge, a 2-minute plank every day, for the entire month.
The challenge is fundraising for Breast Cancer Now in memory of former Raikes manager Selina.
A 2-minute plank is a daily fitness routine which involves holding a continuous, static forearm plank for 120 seconds to maximize core strength, endurance, and mental toughness. It is considered but some as a "perfect" or optimal daily goal, building a strong core, improving posture, and strengthening the back, glutes, and shoulders without requiring equipment.
A spokesperson said:
"We’re doing this in support of breastcancernow.org in memory of a truly loving and incredible person — Selina. She meant so much to so many of us, and this is our way of honouring her while helping others in the fight against cancer.
"We’d love your support. Every donation, big or small, helps make a difference and brings us closer to our goal.
"And to keep things interesting — if we reach £3,000, one brave member of staff will take on a 3-minute plank (and yes, it will be recorded!). If we hit £5,000, some of our team/friends will go even further — completing a 5km walk or run to show our commitment and solidarity.
"Please help us aim high and make a real impact. Thank you for your support."
