Two choirs join forces for Jingle all the Way

Ilkley Moornotes and Sally’s Army are joining their musical forces to bring a joyful programme of festive song to Ilkley.

The concert will take place on 21st December at 7.30pm in the beautiful space of Christchurch on The Grove, Ilkley. Light refreshments will be available in the interval.

“We are looking forward to singing with Sally’s Army in Christchurch in December. All of us are passionate about singing and bringing our love of music to our audiences. We hope that everyone attending will leave the concert feeling uplifted and ready for Christmas”

says Kate Stevens, musical director of Moornotes.

“Our choice of the British Red Cross as the chosen charity for Moornotes, is because choir members felt that at this time of year when we are thinking about peace to the world, the Red Cross is saving lives, bringing aid and support to areas of the world, such as Ukraine and Gaza, where war and conflict are a daily reality.”

Sally’s Army was founded in 2011, when Sally Egan brought a small group of friends together to sing. Now, there are more than 70 members of Sally’s Army and they have performed in concerts all over Yorkshire and have been on tour to Italy and Spain.

Like Sally’s Army, Moornotes started small, singing just for pleasure. Since it began in 2007 it has now grown to 65 members. The a cappella choir performs a wide range of traditional, contemporary and world music.

Both Moornotes and Sally’s Army raise money for good causes that are close to their members’ hearts.

"we are so excited to be singing again with Moornotes. The last time was in 2016 in Otley and so it will be lovely to be performing in Moornotes’ hometown of Ilkley this Christmas”.

The charity Sally’s Army has chosen is Music4theMany, which provides music education and opportunities free of charge, to children and young people.

“We experience the transformational power of music every week, when Sally’s Army sing together, and we think that every child and young person deserves to have that opportunity too, whatever their family’s financial background”

says Sally Egan, Musical Director of Sally’s Army.

Both Sally’s Army and Moornotes look forward to welcoming friends old and new to the concert on 21st December.
