A new reading adventure is coming to Ilkley library this month, The Secret Book Quest is a fun and free year-round reading challenge for ages 5-12, designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading.
Led by a vivid cast of beautifully illustrated characters, children can read their way through 10 themed zones including space, animals, and imagination. Collecting stickers as they go, they read 50 books to complete the challenge and decipher a secret code. Finishers will also receive a certificate and a special prize!
Children read 5 books to complete each zone. There is no rush to complete the challenge, and any type of book counts – poetry, fiction, comic books and more.
To launch The Secret Book Quest, there will be special events happening on Saturday, 12 October at Ilkley library. Join the library team for special story sessions and scavenger hunts.
Library staff are on hand to support the children, helping them to discover new authors and explore a wide range of different types of books and ways of reading. The library is completely free to join - so any children who are not already members can be signed up at the same time as joining The Secret Book Quest.
Other libraries across the Bradford district are also holding launch events on the same day - Bingley, City, Eccleshill, Keighley, Laisterdyke, Manningham, Shipley, Wibsey and Wyke
To sign up and join The Secret Book Quest for free, pop into Ilkley library on Station Road. Further detail of local libraries can be found at www.bradford.gov.uk/libraries.
