The Ilkley Clean River Group will hold its Annual General Meeting [AGM] in October, and will also include presentations on the state of the River Wharfe, and the future of the water sector.
The AGM will take place on 22nd October at The Wheatley Arms, between 6pm and 7.15pm.

Presentation 1: The Aqua Project – a collaboration between Universities of York, Leeds, and Stockholm using citizen science programmes to evaluate the toxic cocktail of chemical and microbial contaminants in our rivers and the impact on communities. https://www.york.ac.uk/news-and-events/news/2024/research/citizen-science-waterways/
Presentation 2: Evaluating the Scheme at Ilkley – securing an evaluation to demonstrate the impact of the scheme at Ilkley on water quality, wildlife and the town.
Presentation 3: The People’s Commission on Water. Founded by Ilkley Clean River Group the People’s Commission met in Town Halls and Churches in England and reported to MPs in July. https://www.thepeoplescommissiononthewatersector.co.uk/. The Commission is meeting with the Environment Select Committee, has informed the Public Accounts Committee and the All Parliamentary Group on Water, to try and secure a real transformation in our water system to conserve and protect water.
