West Yorkshire Police have issued a warning to Ilkley residents to be vigilant following a number of online fraud cases around Ilkley where one victim lost £400.
A spokesperson for Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
“There is a fraud currently going around Ilkley where the victim will receive an email or a Facebook message from a friend asking them to purchase an Apple Pay voucher for their daughter who is in hospital, they will claim they can’t do it themselves as they are ill.
“This has resulted in the victims loosing £400.
“This is always a scam please make elderly neighbours aware, sadly most of the victims have been elderly.”
