Police investigating the death of a man who was seriously assaulted in Burley-in-Wharfedale at the weekend have charged a man with murder.
John Robinson, aged 30, of Derry Hill, Menston, has been charged with the murder of Mason Jones.
Mason, aged 30, was the victim of a serious assault on Main Street in the village on Sunday 1 March. He later died of his injuries.
Robinson, who self-defines as white British, has been remanded to appear before magistrates in Bradford later today, 4 March.
A 23-year-old woman who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Mason’s family have issued a statement paying tribute to him:
“To have our boy taken from us in such a heartbreaking way is something no family or partner should ever have to face.
“He has been taken from us far too soon, and from his beautiful children.
“Mason’s infectious smile and joyful spirit will live on in our hearts and in the precious memories we hold on to.
“His partner, family and friends are still trying to come to terms with this unimaginable loss. We simply ask that justice is done for our boy.”
