The road closures due to start this week in Askwith have been delayed Yorkshire Water has said today.
West Lane through Askwith Village was due to close on Thursday [5th February] until the 8th April and Hallam Lane from 5th to 19th February.
The project is to replace 18.8km of water mains between Weston and Ilkley, which the company says will improve reliability of drinking water supply, reduce leakage, and prevent water main bursts in the area.
Yorkshire Water was unable to start in time with its permits and will now liaise with the local council on new dates.
A spokesperson told us today:
“We have unfortunately experienced a small delay on our mains replacement project, and were not able to start work on West Lane, Hallam Lane and Askwith Lane in time with our permits.
“We will still be completing works on these roads, and are liaising with the local council to get new permits for a later date. We will inform local residents of any future disruption as soon as we are able to.
“The project is still progressing in the meantime, with work currently taking place on Carters Lane in Ilkley, and on private land.”
