Ilkley Philharmonic Orchestra’s [IPO] Spring concert in March will feature popular works by Rossini and Mozart.
The concert takes place in All Saints and will feature the violinist Andy Long, as IPO’s conductor, John Anderson, explains:
“We are delighted to welcome back virtuoso violinist, Andy Long, to perform Mozart’s much-loved violin concerto no. 5 in A, nicknamed the ‘Turkish’. Turkish music was very much in vogue in Austria when Mozart was inspired to compose this wonderful and playful concerto in 1777. Our soloist, Andy Long, has already played several concertos with IPO and he is an amazing musician - we are all really excited to have the opportunity to work with him once again”.
“The Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov, is best known for his symphonic poem Scheherazade, but he also composed three symphonies. His third symphony is rarely performed, but is an excellent work, full of enchanting melodies, exciting rhythms and is superbly orchestrated. We are looking forward to presenting this neglected work for our discerning Ilkley audience!”
Tickets are available online at eventbrite.com or on the door until sold out.
The concert takes place in All Saints’ Parish Church in Ilkley on Sunday 8 March 2026 at 3.30pm.
