Ilkley Town AFC’s Corporate 5-a-side Football Tournament took place on Friday with local firm P4 Solar crowned champions.
In a tight final decided by penalties, the solar panel, battery storage and EV charger installation company came out on top over Ilkley commercial finance specialists CFP Group.
The tournament was the first of a series of events planned to engage local businesses and grow the community around Ilkley Town Football Club which celebrates its 75th anniversary this season.
On Friday, 3 May, 18 business from the area took over the MPM Stadium at Ben Rhydding Sports Club for round-robin matches with group winners progressing to the knockout stages.
The event was sponsored by Leeds law firm TYR and supported by FMJ Plastering, with all teams flying their company flags in branded kits supplied by Pendle Sportswear.
Event organiser Jim Overend said: “It was brilliant to see so many teams turn out on Friday, from seasoned club sponsors to businesses and players making their first trip to our ground.
“Everyone really got into the spirit of the event – the teams looked great in their branded kits and the atmosphere was smashing. We’ve had such positive feedback that we’re already looking to run another event later in the year.
“A big thanks to the sponsors, teams, officials and helpers that made the tournament such a success.”
Businesses competing in the tournament were: MPM, Moor Developments, The Ticket Office, Home Instead, Market Maker, Ilkley Brewery, Smart Search, Beyondly, Freeths, XPS 14, CFP Group, Ilkley Round Table, Ilkley Golf Club, Dencowear, TYR, P4 Solar and Pendle.
