Properties in Ilkley have been hit over the past few days by opportunist burglars taking advantage of the warm weather say West Yorkshire Police [WYP].
The force has launched its Summer Prevention Campaign which highlights concerns around open doors and windows.
A spokesperson for WYP said:
"Many have been sneak in burglaries, where people have left doors or windows ajar., this message is a reminder that whilst our staff are being deployed in high burglary areas we want to also reiterate key messages to you all about security."
Police advise measures such as:
* To use a doorbell camera or other CCTV and use any signage that come with it.
* Mark your property and register it with Immobilise The National Property Register, for Phones, Gadgets, Bicycles & More...
* Look after your neighbours, if you see anything suspicious, someone skulking around giving some excuse for being in a garden, report it.
* Think about a chime to your door if someone opens it.
