With just over a week to go, excitement is building across Ilkley as the town prepares for one of its most anticipated autumn traditions - the Ashlands Bonfire & Fireworks Night.
Taking place on the school field on Saturday 8th November, the bonfire night has become a firm favourite in the local calendar, drawing hundreds of families, friends, and neighbours together for an evening of community celebration and entertainment.
Organisers have announced that only a limited number of tickets remain, with sales once again exceeding expectations ahead of this year’s event.
This year’s event promises to be bigger and brighter than ever, with an expanded fireworks display, a roaring bonfire, and food and drink stalls serving seasonal treats and refreshments. The event is entirely organised by the Ashlands PTA and a team of volunteers, whose hard work makes the evening a highlight for the whole community.
“The Ashlands Bonfire is so much more than just fireworks,”
said Nicola Holmes, of the Ashlands PTA.
“It’s about families and neighbours coming together - sharing food, laughter, and that wonderful feeling of community that makes Ilkley such a special place to live. We’re thrilled to see tickets selling so quickly, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another fantastic evening.”
The event’s popularity is matched by its purpose: every penny raised goes directly to support Ashlands Primary School, funding projects and improvements that benefit local children. Previous years have seen proceeds help fund new learning resources, playground upgrades, and initiatives that enrich school life for every pupil.
Tom Harris, one of the organising team said:
“It’s an event that brings the whole town together - parents, teachers, school alumni, and local residents all pitch in - and the result is not just a brilliant night out, but meaningful support for the school. Every spark in the sky helps create opportunities for the pupils.”
The Ashlands Bonfire is a family-friendly event, with a focus on safety, inclusion, and fun for all ages. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed, festive atmosphere complete with hot food, drinks from Ilkley Brewery, and treats for the kids - while the spectacular fireworks light up the Ilkley skyline.
Gates open at 5:30pm, with the bonfire lighting at 6:15pm and the fireworks display beginning at 7:30pm. Organisers are reminding attendees that tickets must be purchased in advance, as it’s likely the event will sell out so no tickets will be available on the gate.
