Burley-in-Wharfedale Cricket Club have announced that the Lashings World XI will return to the village this summer on the 4th July 2025.
This will be the third time the club has played the World XI having beaten them on the previous two occasions. These events have been tremendously successful for the club and it looks forward to welcoming the Lashings back once again.
Previous encounters have been immensely popular in the local area and beyond as well as a competitive affair. Burley ended its Lashings’ unbeaten streak in 2019 and came out victors again in 2023.
The Lashings World XI are equally as excited and determined ahead of the day, Dave Fitzgerald, Lashings Chairman, told Your Ilkley:
“We are delighted to be bringing back our team of international legends to Burley in Wharfedale Cricket Club this summer! This will be our third cricket day hosted by our great friends at Burley and if the previous two are anything to go by, it will be another outstanding day! Having lost the first two fixtures, our team will be fired up to try and claim a win and the pressure is very much on!!!"
Burley-in-Wharfedale Cricket Club Chairman, Richard Watson said on the announcement of the Lashings’ return:
“We are delighted to host The Lashings World XI for the third time and after 2 victories we know they will bring a strong team, including some real legends of the game. It is a great event for the club, village and local area and we have attracted much support over the years. The school children love seeing past players during their morning coaching and we are looking forward to another packed lunchtime marquee followed by a competitive game. There will be live music and food offerings post-match to keep everyone entertained in the evening as well. We can’t wait for another great day!
Richard adds:
“We would like to thank our sponsors for their support and commitment to the club and to the even as we look forward to hosting everyone whether it be your first trip to our club or you are returning.”
The event includes a corporate marquee lunch for 300 guests with tables quickly selling. For further information please contact club chairman Richard Watson at 07824 816519 or email richard@rwproperty.uk
