Ilkley Library is to open on Tuesday, 27 May following a refurbishment.
The refurbishment has included new flooring, the installation of a new staff counter, new movable shelving to one side of the library and new computer desking.
This has been funded by an Arts Council England grant.
The new moveable shelving will create a more flexible space to allow for events and meetings to be held in the library.
A fully accessible public toilet and a kitchenette will be installed in the library early next year when essential electrical and heating work also will be carried out in the library. This work will improve the energy efficiency of the library.
Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said:
“It is great to see how this funding has allowed us to refurbish Ilkley Library and make it more welcoming for our customers. We have ensured that all the work here has been done sensitively and fits with the heritage and listed status of the Ilkley Library building.
“We are committed to creating a fully accessible toilet and kitchenette but this will be done early next year when the library will need to be closed for essential electrical work to take place. We want to be able to open the library to the community to enjoy the new space and also host some events as part of our UK City of Culture 2025 so we wanted to get it back open as soon as we could.”
