One of Yorkshire’s most vibrant and impactful sporting events is back this summer and bigger than ever.
The Ilkley Half Marathon returns on Sunday 13th July, now with the addition of the all-new Ilkley 5K, inviting runners of all levels to take part in a day of fitness, festivity, and fundraising that goes far beyond the finish line.
Organised by the Ilkley Round Table, the event is more than just a race. It’s a showcase of what a town can achieve together - raising over £150,000 to date for local charities, youth initiatives, and vital services across Wharfedale.
Each year, proceeds from the Ilkley Half Marathon directly support local causes, and now, they’re also helping the planet. Thanks to a commitment to sustainability, the event funds the planting of hundreds of trees annually, making each step run part of a greener future for the region.
The success of the event is only made possible by the extraordinary support of local groups, the dedicated teams of volunteers and all the public who cheer runners on. From Scouts and other youth groups helping at water stations to the hundreds of volunteers working to ensure the event runs smoothly, the day brings together the full fabric of the Ilkley community. And with live music performances all along the route, every runner is guaranteed an electric, festival-like atmosphere from start to finish.

New for 2025 is the Ilkley 5K - ideal for new runners from the age of 11 years, families, or those seeking a fun and accessible challenge, the Ilkley 5K offers a scenic, flatter route while still contributing to the same great causes. It's the perfect entry point to experience the spirit of Ilkley’s most inspiring day.
