Firefighters in Ilkley were called to a 'fire in the open' on Ilkley Moor near the Cow and Calf on Thursday evening.
This proved to be a barbecue in use which Ilkley Fire Station say was swiftly dealt with.
Commenting on its Facebook page, a spokesperson for Ilkley Fire Station said:
"To reach this particular part of the moor, you have to pass this banner in the background of the photo, which clearly states no BBQs or fires.
"In light of the current large wildfire incident near to the M62, we would like to stress that the current weather conditions are a perfect storm for a wildfire to start and spread easily. No BBQs or fires are permitted on the moorland and a PSPO is still in force.
"Thankyou to the caller that alerted us to this enabling us to avoid a larger incident."
Ilkley Moor is covered by a Public Space Protection Order which bans the lighting of fires and barbecues as well as sky lanterns and fireworks.
