An Ilkley & District Good Neighbours day out

Ilkley & District Good Neighbours have been shortlisted for a grant from the PatchApp Community Fund and the public are being urged to choose the one that matters most to them.

Almost 100 organisations applied to the fund, with 15 organisations being put forward to a public vote, which will see the top 5 selected to receive a grant from the Fund.

PatchApp is a start-up home maintenance tech company operating across the North West and Yorkshire. The fledgling company makes it easier to find, book and manage your window cleaning and will shortly add a host of other home services to it’s portfolio.

The services are carried out by former members of the Armed Forces, who PatchApp are working with to ensure they have good, stable careers when they leave the Armed Forces.

Ilkley and District Good Neighbours is a local charity supporting older people by through projects such as social events, which includes an annual scenic drive in the Dales. Their programme of social events help reduce isolation and bring people together. The funding will go directly towards hosting these activities for around ninety people, covering transport and refreshment costs.

The public vote closes midnight on Thursday evening this week, 5th June. Anyone can vote on the Community Fund page at www.patchapp.uk.

The business was Founded in 2022 by Paul White, one of the Founders of the Modern Milkman and Innovate UK Young Innovator of the Year, Conor Walsh, both pictured above.

The business has a strong social element to it as Co-Founder Paul White explained

“We’re really committed to leaving the world in a better place than we found it, and that’s what drives a lot of what we do. We wanted to reach right into the heart of the communities we serve and we thought that our Local Community Fund was the best way to do this.”

Conor added

“The number of applications has been staggering, and it’s been fantastic to see the wonderful work that is going on across the region. It’s really heartening to see that there are so many people who care about their local communities. Social isolation is a real problem, so I hope that Ilkley & District Good Neighbours do well in the public vote.”

Local organisations can still apply for a grant at www.patchapp.uk, and a shortlist of organisations will be drawn up each month, which will then go to a public vote.
