Sunshine, friendly competition, and great company were the order of the day at this year’s annual Ben Rhydding Golf Scramble, held at Ben Rhydding Golf Club.
The much-loved annual event brought together mixed-ability teams of current and former members of Ilkley & District Round Table for an evening of sport and camaraderie.
Founded in 1947, Ben Rhydding Golf Club is a welcoming and inclusive club at the heart of the Ilkley community. The club prides itself on promoting the enjoyment of golf for all abilities, hosting a range of events and competitions throughout the year.
Five teams took to the course, pairing seasoned players with enthusiastic beginners to ensure fun and fair play for all. The scramble format encouraged teamwork, with each shot giving every player the chance to contribute to the team’s success.
After a lively round, participants gathered at the clubhouse to enjoy a well-earned dinner and drinks, where stories from the course were shared and friendly rivalries discussed.

This year’s winners [pictured above] were the team captained by Richard Meredith, alongside teammates Jonathan Pollard and Tim Haskins, who impressed with their consistent play and steady teamwork.
One participant said:
“The Golf Scramble is always a highlight of our calendar. It’s about more than just the sport - it’s about bringing together current and former Round Table members, welcoming new faces, and enjoying the spirit of friendship that makes this group so special.”
The Annual Ben Rhydding Golf Scramble continues to grow in popularity, offering an accessible and enjoyable round of golf for newcomers while still providing a competitive challenge for experienced players.
