Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks thank its supporters

The Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks (FOIRP) have thanked the many local businesses that have joined the group's new membership scheme.

They include, Spooner Industries, for assisting with the restoration of the memorial plaque, and Ilkley Town Council for its grant of £3,000 towards the installation of new planters in the riverside parks. So far the community group has received support from New Brook Street Deli, Silverspring Sales and Lettings, Tatty’s Dog Walking & Pet Care, and Ilkley Cycling Club.

A FOIRP spokesperson said:

“Thanks to the incredible support from the local business community, our membership scheme is already helping to fund ongoing improvement projects across the park, from maintaining the numerous wooden benches to wildflower planting initiatives. These contributions are not only a show of local pride but a direct investment in the wellbeing and beauty of our shared green spaces.”

James, Silverspring Sales & Lettings, said:

"Ilkley’s Riverside Parks are one of the true gems of our town, a place where people come together to relax, play, and enjoy nature. At Silverspring Sales & Lettings, we believe in supporting the spaces that make our community special, which is why we're proud to support the Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks and help keep it beautiful for everyone."

FOIRP say the £3,000 grant awarded by Ilkley Town Council will go specifically towards the installation of new, high-quality planters. These will be filled with pollinator-friendly plants and placed in strategic locations near the Riverside Hotel to enhance the natural environment and provide seasonal colour for all to enjoy.

Ed Duguid, Chair of FOIRP, said:

“We’re so grateful to all our new members and to Ilkley Town Council for recognising the value of the parks and contributing to their upkeep.

“This kind of community backing is vital in helping us keep Ilkley’s riverside a beautiful, welcoming space for everyone.”

FOIRP is always looking for new volunteers to help with everything from gardening and litter picking to admin and fundraising.

Ed added:

“Whether you can spare an hour a month or a few hours a week, your time makes a real difference to community groups like ours. “

The group encourage anyone interested in volunteering to join them for a work party, these take place on Wednesdays from 14:30 and Saturdays from 10:00, meeting outside the Riverside Hotel. The regular working parties are a great way to give back to the community and socialise while enjoying the fresh air.
