Residents are being urged to take note of alternative bin collection dates over the festive period so that they don’t miss them.
This year’s changes will affect those who normally have their waste collected on Thursdays or Fridays due to the days of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Those whose ‘bin day’ falls on Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day) will have their waste collected a few days earlier on Monday 22 December.
If your collection would normally be a Friday, your 26 December (Boxing Day) collection will move to Monday 29 December
The Thursday 1 January (New Year’s Day) collection will be moved to Saturday 3 January.
Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Portfolio Holder for Healthy People and Places, said:
“We all know that everyone’s bins are fuller over the festive period, so we don’t want anyone missing their bin collections. Our crews will be working hard to stay on top of collections by moving their shifts to two Mondays (22 and 29 December) and one Saturday (3 January). So please make a note of these alternative dates to ensure you put your bins out on the correct days.”
To help residents a familiar character is lending a helping hand on social media to remind residents to check the tags on their bins if their collection day has changed –

Garden waste collections will take a break with no bins being emptied between 19 December and 19 January. Garden waste collections will resume on 20 January.
